Meet Some of the Galilean Businesses That Support People with Disabilities
The Kishor Winery
The Kishor Vineyard and Winery are owned by the Kishorit village, a village for people with special needs who live together as a community and work in the village’s different production industries. The winery is one of the main industries in the village and the Kishorit members are fully involved in the wine production process, in caring for and cultivating the vineyard, picking grapes, bottling wine, distributing to customers and, with the aid and support of the expert consultants and workers of the village, they essentially make Kishor wines. The visitor center is another source of income for members and it gives them an opportunity to welcome outside visitors, interact with them and see the fruit of their labor!

Odette Chocolate & Pralines Boutique
Odette is a special boutique for handmade chocolates and pralines opened by Dr. Shlomit Zamir at Kibbutz Regba. After 18 years of working as an engineer in Israel’s defense industry, Shlmoit changed her path. Her initial motivation was to combine her long-time hobby of chocolate with creating a proper work environment for her mentally disabled brother and other people in his position, along with commemorating her mother – Odette. As she set off on her new path, Shlomit’s dream grew bigger and she decided to develop an international brand of pralines and high-quality chocolate products, using the best raw materials and meticulous aesthetics. Shlomit enjoys nothing more than working alongside her brother with the thing she loves — chocolate!

Kamah Association
The Kamah Association has developed and implemented the first curative community model in Israel. The model has two separate components – care for at-risk youth and children and care for adults with special needs – that are both implemented in practice within Kibbutz Harduf, with mutual benefit to both programs. Kamah’s model as a healing community is based on the anthroposophical approach and the principle of cultivating healthy relationships, while integrating and accepting those different than us into the surrounding society’s fabric of life. Kamah offers a rehabilitating, empowering, and healing home for adults with special needs, and gives the community in which they live an experience of giving, tolerance, and growth through creative handling of challenges and changing conditions.

Havat (Farm) Rom
In all branches of agriculture of Havat Rom (goat breeding, orcharding, organic vegetable gardens, and more) the farm staff is constantly examining ways that benefit the environment and bring about the right balance between nature and human needs. In the early 2000s, a protected production plant was established on Havat Rom by the Ministry of Health, which employs several dozen mentally disabled people to this day. Workers at the production plant grow, dry and pack herbs, cultivate succulents and cacti in a magnificent greenhouse, work with wood and create beautiful serving trays, cutting boards and wooden blocks (in which they plant the succulents and cacti). At Havat Rom you can experience a breathtaking view, Galilean delicacies, and magical moments close to the Earth!
