Being a part of an agricultural religion and having many of our holidays rooted in the seasons of the year, we can relate to the Thanksgiving holiday, celebrating the blessing of the harvest.
This year just after harvesting the olives and having the Golden treasure of the olive oil stored for the year to come, we can appreciate the profound gratitude for nature in providing us the harvest of this year – may it be good or bad for that matter. Giving thanks is giving thanks.
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated on the last Thursday of November in the United States, Canada, some of the Caribbean islands, and Liberia. It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated as a secular holiday as well.
